Mindwarp

Since I'm trying to save money this X-mas, I've decided to go the "crafty" route for gifts. This probably means that I'll be making my mom something really nice out of a paper plate and some macaroni.

I'm also infusing some vodka to give to some friends, and my girlfriend and I decided we should paint labels with watercolors. I haven't painted in a looong time, and I'd forgotten how fun paints can be. I wet the whole paper first and put down some green, then tried to see what shapes I could find. Sort of like finding faces in the clouds. This is what came out...

I'm not sure if it's a commentary on my mental state, but it was sort of liberating. Now it's back to the grind. I need to get 25 pages of storyboard done per day if I'm going to make my self-imposed pitch date for the new show (sorry, can't show anything yet). If I'm going to be honest with myself, I'd say I'm so close to the Holidays now that I've already missed it. But what kind of stubborn jackass would I be if I didn't try?

Instead of buying gifts for my mother, I used to draw cards (which were folded sheets of printing paper) featuring whatever characters I'd conceived. They were usually tossed together at the last nanosecond. She still has them all.

Oh. wow. Uhm... Zombie with bleading head! Pouring Pee with levitating hand into teacup? And you see that in a green blot... You do realize that Psychatrists use blots to find out if a person is completely mental... I don't think bleeding, yellow liquid drinking, mutants are "good".

What are you infusing the vodka with, exactly? Nitroglycerine?

I don't know what your voice sounds like,

So I imagine Jeff the Spider's voice when I read your posts..

Oh yeah, Underfist was awesome, I hope you can continue making amazing cartoons.

Mental state, shmental state. Pure & simple, it rocks!

Nothing wrong with "crafty" -- anybody can go buy gifts to give, but not everybody can make things to give.

Good luck with your deadlines, but don't work too hard. (Like they say, "All work & no play make Maxwell Atoms a dull boy.")

I do sound sort of like Jeff, I suppose. More the early jeff than the later Jeff.

I'm infusing the vodka with jalapeno peppers and apples. It's definitely a drink best used for shots. And it does make you feel like your head might blow up. But it doesn't. At least mine didn't.

I'll see what C.H. Greenblatt thinks about posting part of the Chowder board. CN's really been cracking down on blog posts lately.

talking about CN, here in latinamerica, Billy and Mandy has been in the primetime 8:30pm for ages, ages! you get to see a bunch of nintendo (twice almost in a row), dolls, toys and teen movies ads, and they still cancel the show? ... you can guess my opinion of them.

Your painting reminds me of the horrifying illustrations that were in those "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" books that I read as a kid.

Personally, I see some kinda reptilian thing with a bloody hole in the back of its head. Whatever it is, it's pretty cool!
